That behavior goes back many, many versions of After Effects. I see it broken going back as far as After Effects CS4.
Let me see if I can get this dealt with in an update coming soon.
When I shared this with my coworkers we all laughed a bit. I'm looking forward to an update.
Keep in mind that the original intent of that animation preset was very simple, and you can reproduce it yourself with masks and scaling of the layer. In fact, that's probably why we've not had many reports of this bug in the 7 or 8 years that this has been broken: it's not actually very useful to someone who knows the basics of After Effects.
I'm a certified PP expert who is being self taught After Effects.
I have no clue what I'm doing, but I am figuring things out slowly.
I needed to crop an edge on a multilayer project and I needed to do it quickly. Otherwise, I wouldn't have stumbled across this bug at all.
