Clamping colors options when using LAB in Color Picker => Can colors clamp to nearest RGB color with same luminance ?

      Hello all !

I recently discovered a great benefit of using LAB color space to pick a color : all colors with a given luminance are perceived by the human eye to have the same luminosity.

That means I can choose the luminosity, then the tint, without affecting the luminosity (as perceived) of the color.

But my problem is the following.

      I open the color picker and I choose the "L" (from L, a, b).

Now actually many colors do *not* have the same luminosity as the others, especially if the L is close to 0 or to 100 : the ones that cannot be converted to RGB.

The color displayed seems to be (I'm guessing) the closest possible RGB color.

Now my problem would be solved if the color displayed was, instead, the closest with the same L value (if the color can't be displayed because it is too bright, by decreasing saturation, and if it is because it is too dark, by decreasing brightness).

Is there an option to do that ?

Or maybe, a way to see which of the colors couldn't be displayed ?

The "out of gamut" warning seems to do approximately that : is there a way to see it globally (on the square with all the colors) instead of having to click each color to know if it is out of gamut or not...?

      Thanks in advance !
