    Video output on iPad

    Pidd

      Hi,

I have a Captivate project I'd like to publish as SWF/HTML5. It's based on a single slide with a slide video showing a background picture and a speaker. On top of this video there are additional elements (texts, images, smaller videos).

These smaller video objects simply won't show in Safari on iPad.

I imported all videos to Captivate as .mp4 using similar settings in Adobe Media Encoder. The slide video plays fine, the other ones not at all (no video, no audio, no still screen, ...).

What can I do about this?

      Thanks

I don't recall where I saw it, but I believe the problem is that Safari (or possibly iOS) won't allow two media files to play at the same time (or something along those lines.) Your best option is probably to incorporate the smaller videos/images/text in to the master video using Premiere or another video editor. Off the top of my head I don't know any free ones that would do it, but everyone has a CC subscription these days, right?

I did a little research and you're right. There seems to be a workaround if you're programming your own app, but usually, iOS apps won't play more than one video at the same time.

It occurs to me that you probably won't even need video editing software to combine the videos, you can just use Captivate to publish to video all the elements you want to combine, then use that video instead. Just make sure you've got your MP4Settings.ini in place so you get 30fps output instead of the default 15fps.

Mark, that worked fine  - thank you! Using MP4Settings.ini enhanced video quality quite a bit (I changed 30 to 25 as I'm in Europe and that's the frame rate I use when shooting video).
