I'm sorry...I forgot to add that I am running windows 8.1 on a new HP computer. A Canon tech surmises the age of the XH-A1 (which isn't really that old) could be the problem. However h says the camera is in proper working order, so the problem could be in the
advances in computer technology since the camera was built. I don't think that Adobe or Windows would run off and leave behind a professional camcorder without designing an update download or some kind of fix.

My question concerning the Canon XH-A1 camcorder wasn't answered exactly. Adobe Premiere Elements 12 won't read the camcorder's video or audio. It will however control the camera in the capture window. I run windows 8.1 in a new HP computer with a 2 TB hard drive. a Canon
tech says the XH-A1 may be too old for the technological advances in Adobe and Windows, however the XH-A1 is a professional camera, and I can't see Adobe or Windows leaving the camera behind without an update download or some kind of fix. Anyone else have this problem, and
was it solved?

Do you not want Premiere Pro models for Premiere Elements issues. There are more than enough Premiere Elements documents on its DV HDV data capture firewire into its Capture window.
When dealing with Premiere Elements questions, you need Premiere Elements answers. At another time, I can cite you some cases to prove the point.
Just a note. We are not Adobe here. Rather user to user. If none of us can provide you with the answer that you seek, then you might want to take the matter to Adobe via its Adobe Chat while Premiere Elements 12 is still the current version. It probably will not be in a few weeks.
