Acrobat PDF fillable forms do not seem to work with third party PDF readers. Any way to avoid this?

I wish Adobe would make their PDF forms more accessible and easy to use by making them third party PDF readers compatible. I make extended PDF forms that have fonts embedded and they only work with the Adobe reader. Huge problem when there are so many alternative PDF readers out there. The form basically gets corrupted and the fonts disappear or is replaced which is not supposed to happen. How do I avoid a client calling me to say the form is not working?

They are asking for a Word file instead where they are able to change fonts, colors, size etc. Why can't Adobe make forms more accessible by allowing the user to change fonts if needed?

Also, when I try to add a window where a client can add their own photo with a bit of javascript and button feature, the only allowable image type is a PDF. Why not a jpeg file since most photos are jpeg file?

It just seems to me the engineers are making leaps and bounds of improvements on programs like Photoshop but kind of not paying attention to the fact that PDF file are used for everyday business all the time. The PDF format has huge potential in the market place but the fact that the forms do not work on third party PDF readers and the fact that the fonts in the forms is not changeable by end user in extended format is a huge problem.
