Lilybiri Sep 9, 2014 3:01 PM (in response to charliemullin)You really have to provide more details, this is a very vaguebquestuon.

2. Re: Captivate 8 - button and click box actions won't work?
charliemullin Sep 9, 2014 3:10 PM (in response to Lilybiri)Sure. In a responsive project, I have two slides. The first slide includes a click box, assigned the Go to Next Slide action, and a button, assigned the Show action to display a circle shape, which is hidden by default. When I preview the project using F10, or using F11, neither the click box, nor the button are responsive at all, and there is no other feedback.
When I create a NON-responsive project, all interaction objects, including buttons and click boxes, work fine.
Is there something I need to know that's extra special about responsive projects that affect interaction objects?
I hope I'm just doing something silly without realizing it.

3. Re: Captivate 8 - button and click box actions won't work?
charliemullin Sep 9, 2014 3:15 PM (in response to charliemullin)BUT, when I publish the project, the interactions work fine. So, the problem is that they don't work when previewing.
Now I'm sure there is something I need to better understand about previewing responsive projects.
I'll keep experimenting and in the meantime, any guidance would be most appreciated.
Thanks!

4. Re: Captivate 8 - button and click box actions won't work?
RodWard Sep 9, 2014 10:16 PM (in response to charliemullin)Since all responsive projects are HTML5, they should always be tested and previewed via a webserver, not locally on your system.

5. Re: Captivate 8 - button and click box actions won't work?
charliemullin Sep 10, 2014 9:47 AM (in response to RodWard)Well, that seems awkward to me. In my test responsive project, with one button and one click box, both interaction objects work properly when I publish the project to a webserver. They do not work at all when I select one of the preview options. Are you saying that's because the preview for responsive projects does not actually generate html5 content? When I view the source, it's clearly not like the source that's created when published out to a webserver.
The preview options are different between responsive and non-responsive projects:
Non-Responsive Responsive
This supports what you stated, but I just want to be clear:
Does this mean that the only way to test the functionality of every button and click box I add is to produce the whole project out to a webserver?
If so, that seems like a lot of extra work -- but maybe not.
I just thought it was peculiar.

6. Re: Captivate 8 - button and click box actions won't work?
Lilybiri Sep 10, 2014 9:59 AM (in response to charliemullin)Did you try Preview in Adobe Edge Inspect? That seems to work for me on most devices and on desktop.

7. Re: Captivate 8 - button and click box actions won't work?
charliemullin Sep 10, 2014 10:09 AM (in response to Lilybiri)No, that didn't work either. However, the page source looks a lot like the page source generated on the webserver.. It does make sense to me that Edge Inspect would be a sensible way to preview. I'll do some more testing around that.
Thanks!

8. Re: Captivate 8 - button and click box actions won't work?
Pkoel Oct 6, 2014 12:28 PM (in response to charliemullin)Hello,
I am running into the same problem. It seems to defeat the purpose of having preview options in a responsive project; if they do not work. Is this a bug? What setting do I need to enable so that previewing actions works in the same way that publishing does?
Sincerely,
Peter

AnitaHorsley Oct 8, 2014 2:31 AM (in response to Pkoel)What browser are you all using? I haven't run into that problem with Chrome.

10. Re: Captivate 8 - button and click box actions won't work?
charliemullin Oct 8, 2014 9:07 AM (in response to AnitaHorsley)Actually, I've been displaying previews in Chrome, where I was unable to get the buttons and click boxes to work. But that got me thinking. When I copy the URL of the preview location (localhost....) to my IE9 browser, the buttons and click boxes work as intended!
So, I'm persuaded now that this is really a browser issue.
Other thoughts?

Shaelos mom Oct 8, 2014 1:33 PM (in response to charliemullin)I had a similar issue using a Google Chrome version later than 36 and found a patch here: Update on Captivate HTML 5 content playback issue in Google Chrome Browser. « Rapid eLearning | Adobe Captivate Blog that has corrected both my previewing issues and publishing issues with advanced actions and buttons concerning Google Chrome and responsive projects.

Thanks!
