    L/R on External drive

SSorry to ask a newbie question that is probably answered somewhere else. I'm an aperture user and my Mac hard drive is really full. Can I use L/R on an external drive rather than on the Mac itself, and if I do, will the performance be the same? I can't kill my aperture yet so need to have both programs and just don't have room. Thx.

I use Windows 7, and know nothing at all about the Mac. My initial reaction to your question is that I would really stay away from installing Lightroom on an external drive. Thinking about the Windows operating system, it just seems to me that you would be facing a number of problems. But that's from a Windows user perspective. Download the trial version and install it on your external drive and see what happens. I think there's a potential for a performance hit, but the only way to find out is to give it a try.
