1. Re: Can my online Business Catalyst website manager data tell me if people download PDF's I have linked on my website? What about links to other website?
Robert Bell (Bosweb) Sep 11, 2014 7:44 PM (in response to naturescape_peopletecture)There are reports for individual 'Literature Items' ('media downloads'). Look under Modules › Media Downloads › (open an item) › Actions › View Media Download Usage Report.
If your files are just sitting in the filesystem (e.g., if you wanted PDFs to open in the browser rather than just downloading), I don't think BC tracks stats for those (or at least, not that we can see), so there's no reliable indicator of how often a file is being directly downloaded.
Trackers like Google Analytics can be used to watch custom events, like 'download link was clicked', but they require the client to execute some javascript to function.

Robert Bell (Bosweb) Oct 12, 2014 2:44 PM (in response to naturescape_peopletecture)Looks like you haven't been granted permission to the Media Downloads module. You'll need to contact whoever set up your account in BC.

naturescape_peopletecture Oct 16, 2014 2:24 PM (in response to Robert Bell (Bosweb))Robert,
I think I figured it out - and if you could confirm my suspicions that would be great. I currently have the "webBasics+" monthly plan and I noticed that the "webMarketing" plan (the next one up the price ladder) has something called "Built-in modules". I am thinking that the "webBasics+" will not have the Modules tab like I had asked in the first place and I would need to upgrade to get it.
Yeah?

Robert Bell (Bosweb) Oct 16, 2014 6:05 PM (in response to naturescape_peopletecture)Yeah, having just created a test "webBasics+" level site, it doesn't have the Modules tab or the 'Media Downloads' menu.
