I don't know what to learn to be able to do this. I do know I can blend textures like paint on wood using layers but, how do I get this look? Images are from google images. The wood seems like it's an hdr image or paint. i don't think it's procedural textures though. i mean look at the wood and cement. anybody have any recomendations on what I should learn to get this affect? any advice would really be appreciated. i mean I am looked at tutorials but I need to know what this affect is first. HDR? rgb curves to a image tetxure?
Is that like the top of Rapunzel's tower from Disney's Tangled? It strikes me as that, anyway. If so, you'd probably have to ask Disney/Pixar. I'm pretty sure they use custom workstations for the express purpose of rendering the look you see in that image.
it is from tangled. lol. i know they use maya for the movie but, like you said, i think it's either compositing or photoshop on how they got this image like this.
No doubt they at least use Maya. Maya lets one paint on surfaces too so it wouldn't surprise me if they had a team of artists for that purpose. (Maybe even a combo of imported textures plus painting.)
