Hopefully learning a little more .
I've learned I need to have the cursor outside of the table (silly me, I was trying to get the column selected while hovering over the column inside of the table, not on the outside ).
But, I am still unable to move the column as shown in the new features guide for InDesign CC (2014).
And learning some more.
It appears that in oder to move the columns, they must 'flow' up and down without being interrupted?
So when I insert columns that connect from the top to the bottom of the table, I am able to move them (cursor changes to small box with a horizontal line through it). But if I am (for example) editing a table in a catalog that was created by someone else, and the column is 'interrupted' (not going all the way up and down / cells have been merged, split, etc.), then I am unable to move that column. <--Until I rearrange the columns in a manner that InDesign will allow for moving.
Please hover the mouse cursor over selected column and it will convert the cursor.
Now, you can drag and drop selected row or column or copy (Alt+Drag/drop).
Thank You Sumit !
That does appear to work, but not in all cases?
Example: 9/12/2014 10:44:14 AM - YouTube <--quick vid capture of issue.
I am able to select and move columns and rows, but columns appear to need a 'clean' column to work / move?
Thanks again, I sincerely appreciate it!
Right. This feature does not work with merged cells.
Tried to replicate the problem and also facing the behavior.
you can report the issue to product engineering through following form.
However, i will communicate it internally.
Moving columns and rows with merged cells will not work.
It works with simple rows and columns.
