1. Re: Does a slide video placeholder exist?
uniquescreennamelol Sep 12, 2014 1:48 PM (in response to TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast)In my experience, I've never been able to insert a Recording Slide Placeholder in a regular captivate project (.cptx file).
If you instead choose to create a template (.cptl), you can add a Recording Slide Placeholder. I've always opened a template/.cptl file, inserted the recording slide placeholder, and then copied that into a regular project/.cptx file.
Hope this helps.

2. Re: Does a slide video placeholder exist?
Captiv8r Sep 12, 2014 1:57 PM (in response to TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast)These are intended for TEMPLATE projects. These are projects that are saved with a file extension of .CPTL.
You cannot insert them into normal projects that use the .CPTX file extension.
Basically, you create a TEMPLATE project, then save it, Then you create new projects based on the template. If you have a recording slide placeholder there, you just Double-click it to initiate a recording session.
Cheers... Rick

TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast Sep 12, 2014 2:07 PM (in response to Captiv8r)I didn't specify, but if you look at the screenshot, you can see that I am actually working in a .CPTL.
I've since discovered I can add it to a normal slide, but not a slide master.
To me placeholder objects are most useful on slide masters. Sigh...

4. Re: Does a slide video placeholder exist?
uniquescreennamelol Sep 12, 2014 2:07 PM (in response to Captiv8r)In captivate 7 I am able to copy the recording slide placeholder (actual slide) from a template/.cptl project into a regular/.cptx project. That's how I was able to get a Recording Slide Placeholder into a .cptx file.

5. Re: Does a slide video placeholder exist?
TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast Sep 12, 2014 2:24 PM (in response to uniquescreennamelol)Thanks uniquescreennamelol, I think we're talking about slightly different things. I'm looking to use 'slide video' under the 'placeholder objects' sub-menu. Not a 'recording slide'.
My problem seem to stem from wanting to include it in a master slide. It appears neither 'recording slide' or 'slide video' can be used in a master slide....only in the film strip.

6. Re: Does a slide video placeholder exist?
TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast Sep 12, 2014 2:30 PM (in response to TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast)Actually, I see my problem was trying to copy the placeholder. I see it works if I copy the whole slide (as you stated) into the master slide . Thanks a bunch!

TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast Sep 12, 2014 2:33 PM (in response to TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast)Spoke too soon. I was deceived. It just copied an image of the placeholder into the master slide.

uniquescreennamelol Sep 12, 2014 2:33 PM (in response to TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast)Cool, happy to help. I see now that we were talking about different things (recording slide vs slide video), but I'm happy to see it worked using the same principles.

10. Re: Does a slide video placeholder exist?
uniquescreennamelol Sep 12, 2014 2:37 PM (in response to TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast)What if you Insert > Placeholder Objects > Content Placeholder
and then select the video object choice after creating a project from the template? Does that work?

TorontoSoundsGoodPodcast Sep 12, 2014 2:39 PM (in response to uniquescreennamelol)Unfortunately 'video object' and 'slide video' work differently.
