It's all too easy to download the Creative Cloud copy of Lr by mistake, as Adobe try to hide the perpetual version, so if this is the case, uninstall your installed copy on your laptop. Then you can use either the downloaded or disk based copy of Lr you used to put it on your desktop.
Yes, you can install Lr on two devices.
Thanks John, I've checked and i'm using exactly the same version (LR v.5.4) on both devices. I'm pretty sure this is the perpetual version. Any other suggestions?
The two Lightroom products are the same software package they just get activated in a different manner. Uninstall the existing version of LR this process will just remove the application but will not interfere with your catalog, preferences and other personal files. Download the latest version 5 (5.6) from the link below.
The Lightroom License key is a 24 digit numeric code and does not contain any alpha info. see the link below for further info.
I tend to agree with John, this is usually the issue (particularly since Adobe seem to hide the perpetual version download).
Also the latest version is 5.6 (both perpetual and CC), not sure where you could have downloaded 5.4 from.
This the site for the 5.6 perpetual version for PC:
And this for Mac:
I'd try uninstalling the 5.4 and then using the relevant link above. Good luck.
Thanks for your help, reloaded with LR5.6 and all is good!
Thanks for your help, all sorted.
