CS4 100% gpu load on second gpu

In CS4 64, my second gpu goes to 100% load in photoshop. It happens with opengl drawing and also with opengl drawing off after I open up a simple image like a flat bmp. If I close the bmp it's still 100% on that second gpu. It turns up the fans and costs power.

I'm on windows 8.1, have two hd7950's in crossfire with rather recent 14.7 whql drivers.

I was wondering if anyone knows a solution.

Photoshop has a problem if you had two different GPU in you machine. Are both the hd7950 the exact same ?? If so report to Photoshop Family Customer Community

I have also see hits on  hd 7950 crossfire compatibility searches on the web

Are you using more than one video card?

Multiple video adapters can cause problems with GPU-accelerated or enabled features in Photoshop. It's best to connect two (or more) monitors into one video adapter. If you have to use more than one video adapter, make sure that they are the same make and model.
Otherwise, crashes and other problems can occur in Photoshop.

Note: Using more than one video adapter does not enhance Photoshop's performance.
