CS6 InDesign crash on Windows 8

Whenever the TMP environment variable points to something else than %LOCALAPPPAT%\Temp CS6 InDesign will crash. My TMP and TEMP point to a RAMDRIVE for obvious reasons. To work around this bug in InDesign without changing your TMP variable do the following

      1. Create a text file InDesign.cmd with the following content:

      SET TMPTMP=%TMP%

      SET TMP=%LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP

      start "ID" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS6\InDesign.exe" %1 %2 %3

      SET TMP=%TMPTMP%

Store this file somewhere, for instance in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS6

      1. Use it as default application to open indd files (right-click, Open with..., Look for another App on this PC)

In this way your TMP variable will not be affected and you can use InDesign
