LR 5.6 fails at least 2 to 3x a week with a cache preview error. Sometimes a restart of LR is enough, but other times I have to purge the cache file. This is a pain and is getting in the way of being productive.
Is there something I can do to eliminate this issue?
Running Windows 7 home preium, 8 gb memory, 64bit.
I'm a bit dissappointed in Adobe because I'm running LR CC so I assume they are being informed when LR fails. If they detect this problem on a regular basis, why not an informational message which guides me to eliminate or mitigate the problem?

Same problem here. Very annoying, and conter productive. Can't beleive there is no apparrant resolution!
Cache failures on a regular basis indicate a hardware problem; almost definitely your hard drive is having a problem. You might want to try (temporarily) copying the catalog file to an empty folder on a different disk, and then double-click on it to open it and see if the problem goes away.
