I have investigated further and below are further details of the problem:
Adobe problem when creating a signed PDF document from a word doc which has embedded links.
If the embedded link is not re-named (Change text to display) when inserting the hyperlink:
The link will work ok on the signed pdf, however if you re-name the same link:
The link will not work once created as a signed PDF.
The only way around this is to re-create the link in Adobe after signing the document:
It will then work.
You cannot rename a link after signing because that would break the signature.
Exactly my problem, that's why I would need to have this issue fixed. I have submitted a bug to Adobe for this.
It isn't clear to me from your question. Are you saying that the links work if you make a PDF but do not sign it? Or is this independent of signing?
Hi, thanks for your response, and sorry for not being clear. The links are originally created within MSWord:
Insert hyperlink, e.g. www.google.co.uk (dont change text to display field).
Insert 2nd hyperlink e.g. www.google.co.uk (change text to display field to google for example).
Both links work in Word and when created as an Adobe document.
After signing the document the 2nd link doesn't work.
You have not answered Test Screen Name's question if both links work in PDF after you create it (what you call "Adobe document") before you sign. We need this info.
The other question is how do you sign: do you sign with certificate or do you sign with EchoSign? Or is your signature just a stamp?
Hi Thanks for you reply, does "Both links work in Word and when created as an Adobe document (PDF), After signing the document the 2nd link doesn't work."
not answer the question?
I am signing the document with my signature just as a stamp.
If you need any more info please let me know.
So you are just stamping? We assumed you were using a digital signature. What method do you use to stamp?
Sorry but I dont have too much experience of Adobe, below is exactly what happens:
After creating the PDF from Word, both links still work. I go to Fill&Sign, select place signature (type my signature), after placing the signature I select save.
After saving the 1st link still works.
When I try the 2nd link (the one that has had the change text to display field changed in Word). It no longer works.
Are you able to replicate this?
Ah, now there's something about that kind of signature flattening the file. I wonder if that's it.
Just wondering if there was a solution to this issue. I have at least three users in my company having the same issue. Links get broken after signing.
It appears that the link fields are being flattened (turned into text) during or after signing. But Acrobat recognizes "www.google.co.uk" as a URL (even in text) and enables it as a link. It can't do that with "google". I can't comment on why the link was flattened.
Thanks for your reply @margueritek. Some of these users have spaces in their links, could that also be the reason why the links get broken?? It doesnt happen in Acrobat DC though
