We're aware of the issue, and as far as we can tell, it is specific to the content debugger.  Users with the standard release player will not encounter this issue.  We have a bug open on the issue and are currently investigating.

Still in the queue.  In the meantime, you can run the debugger in Firefox or download the PPAPI debugger for Google Chrome.

Maybe a stupid question, but how do you use the installer to install the debug flash player in Firefox and the non debug version in safari? The installer doesn't let you pick and choose does it?

There's only one centrally-located NPAPI Flash Player, which is shared by Safari and Firefox.  What I typically do is run the NPAPI debugger and use Chrome because it has a built in PPAPI Flash Player as the "regular" browser.  You can also flip this and run the NPAPI release player and the PPAPI debugger, but the PPAPI debugger is less mature.

Now after 5 weeks, you have always not resolved this very important and urgent issue. It seems that Adobe has realy abandonned the actionscript / flash player projects. Why not simply discontinue flash player on desktops too ? Or even better remove or block "automaticaly" all flash players with the final update. That could create a serious issue on the Internet for few weeks but at least that will be honorable end like a Samurai's Seppuku...

This is fixed as of Flash Player 15.0.0.222 and should be available for evaluation in a future beta drop.
