If you are on a Mac, make sure the System Preferences are not set to reopen windows in applications on restart, then empty the recovery folder again.
Thanks, though I should add this is on windows 7, indesign cc.
Emptying the InDesign Recovery folder at C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\Version <9.0 for CC, 10.0 for CC 2014>\<your language version>\Caches should solve this, but you can completely delete the folder, or rename it, and it will be rebuilt.
I deleted the recovery folder and it rebuilt with a couple of files in it.
these appear to look like the same files. i think it must be a problem somewhere else.
These are the file names in the folder or are they supposed to be there.
I have opened the program maybe 20 or so times an it has heaps of crash reports. I also uninstalled and reinstalled, do you think something else might have happened?
I have deleted all of my fonts to try and isolate a font and deleted both preference files.
im not sure what im supposed to do to fix this.
maybe if i can email the crash log?
So you didn't find a bad font, and deleting the prefs didn't help? And you are opening the application only, not double-clicking a file to open it and ID simultaneously?
You are welcome ot post a crash report on pastebin.com and put a link to it here, but Windows 7 reports are usually completely useless.
do you have any ideas on how i could fix this issue
That's what I'm trying to do, but you didn't answer the last questions...
no it hasnt helped, i deleted all of the fonts apart from the windows fonts i also deleted the preference files. Unfortunately I could not find the Win.ini or atm.ini files so i couldnt look into that.
as for starting the program i am just opening indesign directly. Not sure what you mean about ID simultaneously.
hope this helps.
if you need more info let me know.
ID is shorthand around her for InDesign, and I wanted to be sure you weren't trying to open a file and have that open the program (which would be a problem if the file was corrupt).
Since it seems that's not the case, I'm going to suggest you first try System Restore to a date when it worked, and if that doesn't bring it back, that you uninstall, run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 ) and reinstall clean.
