Hi
Just purchased the upgrade for pse 13. Cannot convert catalog. Says there is an error. Also, the font size is huge. Is there a way to shrink the font?
Thanks
Doreen
Doreen,
Is that the exact error message? No other precisions?
Yes, the font size is much bigger that in previous versions and I don't see how to change it.
Are you on Mac or Windows, and what is the size of your display in pixels ? That change was most probably made to allow HDPi displays in the organizer.

luv2digiscrap Sep 25, 2014 12:18 PM (in response to MichelBParis)Hi,
The error reads:
Conversion Failed
Catalog conversion failed. Try repairing the catalog with the software that created it and retry conversion. Please refer to the Help article "Catalog Conversion Errors" for more details.
I'm on Win 8.1 64
Asus PB278 reolution 2560x1440
Resolution was great in 12. 13 is ridiculous. Can't use it that large.

linda mcisaac Sep 25, 2014 2:00 PM (in response to luv2digiscrap)I had the same problem this morning. I went back into Elements 12, reconnected some photos (3), optimized the catalogue and repaired it, even though it said it did not need to be repaired. I think getting the error was mainly because of the photos that needed to be reconnected. After I did all that I was able to convert my catalog.
My problem now is that I had some untagged photos in there and when I click on "find untagged photos" nothing comes up. I disabled the auto stuff and when I click on the photos that I know are untagged and show that there are no tags, they still don't come up.

Anwesha Dev Chaudhary Sep 26, 2014 12:14 AM (in response to luv2digiscrap)Glad that your catalog got converted.
Regarding font size too big problem, this is happening because PSE13 includes High DPI support.
If you want to shrink the font size, please change your system resolution to 1920X1080 from: Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display\Screen Resolution and see if you like the font size now.
Thanks,

Marmotte06 Sep 26, 2014 11:50 AM (in response to Anwesha Dev Chaudhary)Hi, I have exactly the same problem with the font size of Premiere Elements 13 and of the Organizer 13 (the editor is OK, at least): The menu font is so big that it's unusable.
I have a 1920x1200 screen (16/10 format), and this is NOT and high-dpi screen, and I will NOT change its resolution to 1920x1080 which is not the native resolution of my screen.
Did Adobe test that software on 16/10 screens, which are quite common in photography ? Why don't you just have an option allowing to chose whether you want normal or enlarged fonts ? That's just common sense. Instead taking stupid décisions, just let the users chose.
Either that problem is fixed, or I ask for a refund and come back to Elements 12, or move to the competition.

luv2digiscrap Sep 26, 2014 12:34 PM (in response to Marmotte06)i, too, will not change my resolution size. I have a high resolution for a reason and paid good money for it. I think Elements needs to fix this and not by telling people to lower their resolution. That's insane especially with pictures!!

MichelBParis Sep 26, 2014 1:16 PM (in response to luv2digiscrap)I have too a 1920x1200 display (24') and I found the fonts to appear much bigger in the Organizer than with previous versions of PSE. On the contrary, the fonts on the editor are slightly smaller (about 5%).
This is related to my Windows 7 settings. I had my Windows preferences set to have my fonts at 125%, which is the best compromise I found for other softwares.
Out of sheer curiosity, I set it to 100% (small). The fonts in the organizer dropped to the previous size. Nothing changed in the editor.
Note that you have to reboot or start a new session to change the Windows settings. I quickly realised that for my other programs I needed to keep the 125% size.
I can live with the bigger fonts in the organizer, especially with the new grid view, even though the Ctrl D does not work, I have to use the menu. The font size in the editor and ACR is really small, but that leaves more space for the images.

Anwesha Dev Chaudhary Sep 28, 2014 10:01 PM (in response to luv2digiscrap)Hi,
Could you please check the font size selected under display settings of your system?
If it is greater that 100%, please make it 100% keeping the resolution as it is <in your case 2560X1440>
Thanks,

11. Re: Photoshop Elements 13
Marmotte06 Sep 28, 2014 10:17 PM (in response to Anwesha Dev Chaudhary)In my case, I have a screen with a native 1920*1200 resolution (16/10 aspect ratio), and I have configured my desktop to that resolution, and to 125% font size.
It is exact that when setting a 100% font size, or down-grading the resolution to 1920*1050, the "big font problem" disapears.
However, I WILL NOT DO THAT !!!
I will certainly not artificially change the resolution and aspect ratio of my screen, and I will not set a 100% font size that would make ALL my other applications un-usable.
Adobe just have to fix the problem, which I think is easy to find, since it specifically affects screens larger than 1920*1050 with a font size higher than 100%. This is a bug in the new "hDPI screen support".

luv2digiscrap Sep 29, 2014 4:19 AM (in response to Anwesha Dev Chaudhary)Anwesha,
The font size is at 100%. So that has nothing to do with changing the font size in PSE 13.
