    Lightroom Darkening Images on Import

    perfectblue Level 1

I am using Lightroom 5.6 and a bit new to all of this coming from Photoshop. When I import images into lightroom, the program automatically darkens them. I have read that this is due to a mismatch between how the camera exports the RAW file and how adobe interprets it. Is the only way to correct this by creating a camera preset?

      Immediately upon importing

After it finishes loading - notice how the picture becomes significantly darker.

If these are RAW files, then what you see if perfectly normal for Lightroom and cannot be turned off.

Lightroom first displays the camera generated JPG preview for a few seconds, until it has the time to render its own version of the un-edited RAW photo.

If you don't like the default Lightroom rendering, you can set up develop presets that are applied at import to change the photo more to your liking right off the bat.
