Moving this discussion to the Photoshop Lightroom forum.
Were the raw files from that same camera supported in previous versions of Lightroom? To my knowledge, Lightroom is not supposed to be associated with any file type in your operating system. Lightroom should be used to import images into its catalog, and that is done within Lightroom.
yes after I imported my .cr2 raw files into new catalog it started to work. Windows 7 still does not recognize them but I can edit them as you said within the Lr5.6 and then export them into .psd or .dng files...as needed.
I bought Lr5 only because I got present - my new camera Cannon 70D and because my older Photoshop CS5.5 raw plugin does not recognize. cr2 files.
Many thanks for your help.
So, can you describe specifically the problem you are having now?
I am not able to change default program for .cr2 in the properties pannel...
As far as I know, this is by design, Lightroom cannot be the default program for opening photos.
You must import photos into Lightroom, rather than try to open photos into Lightroom via your operating system.
