Can you share that particular animation? I tried on my end creating that simple animation, it's working very smooth.
May I know which version of Edge are you using, although an animation as simple as you talked about should be smooth in any version of Edge.
Thanks for replying so quickly.
I have a zip file, where do I attach it?
Also, in the final product I am currently prototyping I will have possibly 3 or more compositions on a page. Is there any reference you can point me to regarding optimization with the do's and don'ts with EA?

You can put in dropbox or some other online storage service, and share the link with us.
There is no such reference regarding EA optimization.
But you can use EA features like:
1. Preloader option in EA, that will show a preloader image until the whole animation gets loaded
2. CDN hosting of EA runtime files
3. Also, if u are using images, edit the image in some photo editing tool to resize the image as per your need, this will reduce the file-size, if you are down-sizing.
4. Use symbols if you are going to reuse some elements in the animation.
5. etc, etc.
As you can see most of the above holds for any web project optimization. There is no specific reference for EA as such.
Thanks Vivek for the info.
I am currently building a prototype for a digital signage application. I have been amazed with EA and it is the design tool we will recommend to our customers once we start full time development on the project.
I have the dropbox link to the project that I see lots of tearing : Dropbox - Tearing.zip
Thanks for all your help.
As you are not animating the "Blur Filter" on "man1Text" and "man1", please select them and delete them. Or you can animate the "Blur Filter".
Then you won't see the tearing issue.
hope it helps,
Can you explain why this is happening from a technical perspective as I can advise customers not to do this?
Any link you can send me to?
Is there any diagnostics screen which can help which would indicate where the problem might be? I.e. if for some reason the animations are not being h/w accelerated can I determine which are not?
The "Blur Filter" should not appear in the timeline as it doesn't have any keyframe(marked by diamond shape), and vice-versa.
Looks like a bug to me.
So, Jahandaniel, for the time being, advise your customer to delete those "Blur Filter" from timeline, or insert new keyframes to add blur animation, to get rid of tearing effect.
Regarding diagnostic screen, I have no idea.
Thanks for all your help.
I did notice the EA ide behaving a bit strange with the blur filter, seemed to freeze when I moved the timeline marker.
Great product, well done.
I will check this and let you know my findings.
I have been working with Edge Animate for some time, and some animations that worked on desktop did not work on mobile.
If that is your case, the solution was to use GreenSock | GSAP
Resdesign sent me this nice sample:
I have heard of GreenSock and was looking at them last week.
Fortunately we do not have to think about mobile as i am building a digital signage player which should run on our own hardware.
I thought EA was using GreenSock under the hood as I saw EA referenced on there website?
I do not know, but I guess no,
because on mobile the performance of my animation has a big, big difference.
