    Time Code Issue (picture)

    perfectblue Community Member

I am shooting with a Panasonic GH4, and I have timecodes enabled. When I import the clip into Premiere it correctly shows the max length of the footage, in this case 18 seconds as you can see on the right. However, on the left hand side is displays 1:47:56:04 which is how much recording time I have left based on my SD cards capacity I believe.

How do I get each clip to start at 00?  For example for this clip I would want the start time to be 00:00:00:00 and end at 00:00:18:00

The number on the right is showing the In - Out duration of the clip (if there are no In - Out marks, then showing the total clip duration), the number on the left is showing the timecode recorded by the camera while filming the clip.

To get the start timecode to show as zero, right-click the clip, select Modify>Timecode, and set the Timecode value to 0. You can do this with multiple clips selected.

However, you might want to think twice about doing this as the source clip's original timecode can be valuable information for a number of reasons.

Just in case what Meg & I have said hasn't made this clear, the timecode is written to the clip by the camera. It increases as you record. It has absolutely nothing to do with how much recording time you have left on the card.
