Letters replaced with ???? when published

I just re-published a presentation I've published before with no problems. This time, however, when I viewed the output all the "S" characters were replaced with question marks throughout the presentation!! The only exceptions are Word Art and slide titles are okay.

I don't know if it makes any difference, but this presentation is in Canadian French, and the language pack is installed.

I need to finalize this presentation today. Any ideas of what to try?

This basically has to do with character encoding. Do a google search for "ISO-8859-1 vs. UTF-8"
