1. Re: Need serious help about understanding settings on photoshop for the best quality- please reply is you know a lot about this.
Nancy O. Oct 1, 2014 11:41 AM (in response to rhorwich)Websites are typically 72 ppi because that's what most browsers support. Print images can 300 ppi or higher depending on how they are used.
You should never attempt to put print quality images on web pages because they will be too huge and take forever to load. Slight color variations are inevitable on the web depending on which browser you use and how well calibrated your monitor is. It's even more noticeable on some Macs. So don't expect your web images to look exactly the same as your native PSDs. Web JPGs contain fewer pixels and less information which effects both image quality and to a lesser extent color vibrancy.

rhorwich Oct 1, 2014 11:47 AM (in response to Nancy O.)Ok so is there anything I can do about that or not because some people put images on and their photos are of a great quality, maybe it's the website as well. I also need help with what settings I should keep photoshop on when editing as I don't want to keep changing it. Please can you tell me what I should set it to before editing and if I want to change them afterwards so they look better on the web what to do for that so that it only affects that image and not changes the setting that I use to edit my images..

Nancy O. Oct 1, 2014 12:03 PM (in response to rhorwich)I don't change any settings. For 1X web images I always use Save for Web. PS remembers which web settings you used the last time. This doesn't effect other files or formats.

rhorwich Oct 1, 2014 12:13 PM (in response to Nancy O.)It's so true you really can and I am driving myself mad lol.
So what is the difference between changing the 'colour settings' and 'convert to profile' because after changing the colour settings it now keeps saying: "the document doesn't have embedded RGB profile would you like to....etc i've changed the settings and now messed things up....!
