Next release, probably, in a month or two or three (not official).
On a windows PC.
You can just right click, go to [Properties] then the [details] tab.
Then under the Camera section, change your "camera model" to "NIKON D5300"
You can then see all your shots. Edit with Camera Raw or Lightroom
Nikon has released the NEF codec for windows
This will allow you to view your photos in windows explorer, and the image viewer.
Please updated camera raw as soon as possible.
Note: Unless I've misunderstood something - you need the Nikon Codec to pull off the "trick" Scott is talking about - without it, you can't change model name via Explorer properties (there is no way to change model name in Lightroom without a plugin). Another (free) tool you can use to change change model is exiftool.
Note: there are sometimes subtle differences when faking Lightroom into supporting a model it doesn't have official support for yet, e.g. crop registration, color/tone, lens correction.. - dunno about 5300 vs 750.
Yes this is just a hack. Not a recommended long term solution.
I'm sure Adobe will come out with an update soon.
I am currently shooting raw and jpg.
Best to backup your original files just in case something goes wrong.
I have not had anything strange happen yet. But who knows.
Because its a raw image.. you are adjusting white balance, sharpness, contrast, etc. anyways.
The Nikon d810 was released July 17, 2014
Adobe released Camera Raw 8.6 with support for D810 on July 28th.
Lets hope the turn around for the d750 is the same.
If you have CS6 you can download the Beta version and use Camera RAW until the end of the month.
How is this not resolved? I just got an update of 25 cameras and a bunch of other items with Lightroom 4.4 and the Nikon D750 is not included? I had no problem with files when I tested the Nikon D800 before the update, yet neither before or after the new update today can I read files from my new D750. Come on. I see this has been going on for over 9 months. And since I just got a new update to Lightroom 4 this week, you can't tell me that support for this camera shouldn't be added.
The minimum version required for the Nikon D750 is Lightroom 5.7. There is no way you can work on the NEF files from that camera in Lightroom 4.4. There will be no more updates to Lightroom 4 although you can update to Lightroom 4.6. But that still will not give you support for the camera. If you are going to stay with the version of Lightroom that you have then your only choice is to download and install the free DNG converter. Then you can create DNG copies of your NEF files that can be opened in the version of Lightroom that you have now.
I have Lightroom CS 6.1.1 and Camera Raw 9.1.1. Just got my new D750 today (Aug 20, 2015) and I can't import JPG or RAW images from the Camera to Lightroom. Am I missing something here?
Mac or Windows?
What version of the OS?
Are you connecting the camera directly or using a card reader? (Card reader recommended.)
What error message are you getting?
What happens when you try to import?
It is Mac OS version 10.9.5. I get this message whether I plug in the USB cord to the camera or go direct with the Card into the Card reader:
Some import operations were not performed.
The following files were not imported because they could not be read. (2)
This is after I do a normal import like I've been doing all along with my D7000 and Lightroom 4xx and 6xx.
I CAN see the preview images on the D750 when I hook it up (or plug the card into the card reader), but I get that message (above) when I click on Import.
I can import JPG images into Lightroom 4, but not RAWs. Cannot shoot tethered at all with LR4
Just discovered right this minute I CAN shoot tethered and import both JPG and RAW into LR 6.1.1
This error message means that you don't have the proper permissions in your operating system. Go to the Lightroom Import dialog box, determine what folder is selected under "Destination" on the right, and then go into your operating system and make sure that exact folder has WRITE permission.
And now miraculously, it's working just fine. Don't know if it's because I tried the Tethered test or not, but it seems to be fine now. It imports JPGs and RAWs from both the card reader or USB cable, and also both from Tethered. Problem solved but I'm not sure how... Thanks everyone!
