Commit the text, click in the box with the Font name and then use up/down arrow keys.
Hi Ronald, Thanks for reply, maybe I didn't explain... I know how to select the text and scroll through the fonts ok... but when I commit the text, it inverts the colour of the selection... i want to select the text without inverting the colour because its much harder to evaluate the different fonts when they're in a different scheme from the image itself.
Is this in Photoshop CC 2014? I believe the live font preview feature is exclusive to that version which will exactly do what you want.
Awesome yes, I hadn't heard of this before thanks so much
You should not select the text. Just compose your text, commit and start choosing a different font.
No need to select the text to change any or all of the attributes.
You can even change text attributes on more than one text layer by targetting the text layers and then changing color, font or whatever.
This feature exists as long as I can remember...
Edit: exception: you need to select text if you want different attributes on the same text layer (e.g. different fonts or other attributes on the same text layer)
Just target the text layer in the layers palette do NOT double click to go into edit mode. Select the text tool in the tools palette. Highlight the font name selected in the tools option bar. Then start clicking the down of or arrow keys you will see the font change in the image window.. The colors will be the ones you used.e
