2. Re: How do I rotate the image?
lizard r Oct 6, 2014 10:35 AM (in response to lizard r)I just discovered that the answer to this is the same as the answer to my problem with applying a fill.
When opening an existing image, that is not the working layer. the original layer is uneditable.
There is no indication, unless you check the layers, that there are actually 2 of them automatically.
The 'draw' layer is rotatable once it's selected. This isn't immediately obvious.

3. Re: How do I rotate the image?
darenwoodward Oct 6, 2014 10:38 AM (in response to lizard r)With the scale tool selected, place your thumb and index finger on the screen. Keeping your fingers on the screen, slowly pull them away from each other. Your image will scale up. Pull your fingers toward each other, and it will scale down. moving both fingers in a circle will rotate the image.
The palm rejection feature on my styli interferes with some gestures, so definitely disable that.
Are you sure you're working in the correct layer? Other than that I don't know what the problem could be. You might want to try reinstalling the app, or shutting down your device completely and re-starting it.

4. Re: How do I rotate the image?
lizard r Oct 6, 2014 12:05 PM (in response to darenwoodward)Thank you Daren, you hit it exactly on the head when you asked "Are you sure you're working in the right layer?"
I had never started a new project from scratch, I am working with pieces imported from the Photo library.
Finally today I discovered (see my above post) that the image that is imported is NOT the editable layer, that Ideas automatically ADDS a 'drawing' layer. I was trying to rotate (and fill) the visible artwork, most of which was on the permanent layer and not connected to the draw layer.
If I'd known to check the layers panel when I was trying to fiddle with controls, I would have discovered this way sooner.
Thanks for posting!
(now can you give me advice on how to get Ideas to find Illustrator? I am not getting the option to save to Illustrator CC6.)

5. Re: How do I rotate the image?
darenwoodward Oct 6, 2014 12:25 PM (in response to lizard r)Not to sure about the "send to illustrator" function. It worked really well for me before I upgraded to iOS8, now it just doesn't seem to work at all. Also I'm using Illustrator CC 2014, I don't know if it even works with CC6.
When I did have problems with it, it was usually because I didn't have a WIFI connection. I noticed that the option disappeared when my iPad wasn't connected to wifi, when I re-connected, it appeared again.
Now I just email the file to myself, and open the PDF up in Illustrator. Not as seamless but it works.

lizard r Oct 6, 2014 12:31 PM (in response to darenwoodward)Me too, I'm just emailing PDF's. I'm just irritated that I'm not getting the chance to ship it directly to AI, since it's supposed to work, in my case it's not a wifi issue.
I mis-wrote; I am using AI CC 2014. There just seem to be glitches with Creative Cloud stuff.
Thanks so much for your input! I appreciate it.
