1. Re: SD card not supported
David Herrera Oct 6, 2014 4:45 PM (in response to Andrey_ZR)Hi,
Have you tried other devices? For this feature, we weren't able to get it working on all supported devices. If the device manufacturer deviated from Google's implementation advice, then it's not expected to show up as an option unless it's something like a Galaxy S3/4. Each device that deviates requires custom code. We targeted the manufacturers and devices with the most market share that we have in our test bed. In general, you can expect stock Android devices as well as Samsung to work. Newer APIs were prioritized over older ones.
Thanks,
Dave

2. Re: SD card not supported
Andrey_ZR Oct 6, 2014 11:30 PM (in response to David Herrera)David, thanks for clarification.
I have used SD successfully with Asus Padfone and Sony Tablet Z.
At the same time i have received many user reports with inability to use SD card in 32.1.
This devices are: LG P715, DNS S4502M, PiPO M6 ...
Is there any chance to get them work with SD?

3. Re: SD card not supported
Andrey_ZR Oct 7, 2014 5:05 AM (in response to David Herrera)New feedback from Sony Xperia acro S:
External storage location is selected, "not enough free space to load" error.
Free space on card is available.

4. Re: SD card not supported
Andrey_ZR Oct 10, 2014 5:21 AM (in response to David Herrera)Same story with HTC, Fly and Asus Transformer Pad.
External storage location is unavailable.
We receiving such reports every day.
Users purchase folio in our app and can't download it.
We look really ugly in this situation..

5. Re: SD card not supported
David Herrera Oct 10, 2014 10:57 AM (in response to Andrey_ZR)Hi,
Thank you for the list. I'll discuss this with Neil when he is back. The cost of this feature is, unfortunately, quite high, as you need the exact physical device to test and, as you can see, each manufacturer likes to do things differently, even in their own lineup. Some of these devices aren't current, so they have to be procured from the used market.
That's not even the biggest problem. This is the main issue:
http://www.appbrain.com/stats/top-android-phones
Also, some out of date info on tablets, but you get the picture:
http://readwrite.com/2013/04/12/samsung-dominates-list-of-top-android-tablets
As soon as we target something that isn't from Samsung, we're likely looking at less than 0.5% of the market. Adding a phone from a different manufacturer would improve things across multiple devices in their range, likely, but we're still making a minuscule dent in overall support. For now, I'd suggest qualifying SD card support with something like "Added support for SD Card storage on some devices."
I understand your pain, but just wanted to put it in context. I'll get back to you once I know how this will be prioritized.
Thanks,
Dave -
6. Re: SD card not supported
Andrey_ZR Oct 15, 2014 1:06 AM (in response to David Herrera)David, thank you for the answer.
Just a couple notes about Samsung from our new app reviews - external storage doesn't available on Galaxy Tab 7.7.
Samsung Galaxy Note3 and Galaxy S2 allow to change storage location, but the devices gives error due lack of free space.
I hope, that you will increase SD support on Android soon.

7. Re: SD card not supported
David Herrera Oct 15, 2014 10:42 AM (in response to Andrey_ZR)We're going to investigate in the next release cycle, starting Monday. There was a bug we fixed regarding the situation you describe above, but we only saw it in reverse, where switching from a full SD card to internal storage would result in that message. We'll see if we can reproduce the situation you mention above and will fix if possible.
Regards,
Dave

10. Re: SD card not supported
Andrey_ZR Nov 6, 2014 1:22 AM (in response to David Herrera)Some additional information about SD card usage in v 32.1:
Lenovo S890 allows to change external storage, but can't download folios due lack of free memory (it's available)
Philips W8510 - the same
Digma iDxD7 3G - the same
DNS S5004 - the same
THL 5000 allows to transfer the app on the SD card and downloads all folios there as well.

11. Re: SD card not supported
David Herrera Nov 6, 2014 4:16 PM (in response to Andrey_ZR)Hi Andrey_ZR,
We did put in a bug fix for this that will be out Monday. I'm not sure if this is what was causing the issues on those devices, but more of your customers will be able to download to external storage after this fix.
Regards,
Dave

12. Re: SD card not supported
Andrey_ZR Nov 7, 2014 2:37 AM (in response to David Herrera)Thank you for the news, David!
Is this correct for a new version description: "SD card support bugfixes"?
-
13. Re: SD card not supported
Neil Enns - Adobe Nov 7, 2014 6:27 AM (in response to Andrey_ZR)Yes. Be aware that there are still likely to be devices where it won't work, and if internal storage is really really cramped for space your readers may still get this error. But we improved it quite a bit!

14. Re: SD card not supported
Andrey_ZR Nov 11, 2014 12:21 AM (in response to Neil Enns - Adobe)In 32.3 description i see this:
The Android viewer fixes for the v32.3 are delayed until the next hot fix or release.
SD card bugfix is not yet available again?

15. Re: SD card not supported
Bob Bringhurst Nov 11, 2014 10:02 AM (in response to Andrey_ZR)The Android bug fixes are scheduled for release later today. [EDIT: The Android bug fixes will be released later.]

16. Re: SD card not supported
Neil Enns - Adobe Nov 11, 2014 7:40 AM (in response to Andrey_ZR)Correct. We found a late issue involving a change to the viewer and app builder so we had to hold off on the android part of the release.
Edit: Bob and my posts crossed paths in the Interwebs The Android changes will not ship today. We are still evaluating how to address a dependency issue involving new tools to support Android 5.0 (Lollipop). As soon as that is addressed we'll know when we can push out the Android update.

Neil Enns - Adobe Nov 13, 2014 8:30 AM (in response to ADAC e.V.)Can you both please send me a private message with your master DPS account ID? I tried updating one of my Android apps and it worked fine so I need to look and see if there's something special about your apps that caused the failure.
