I would like to know was there any previous version of Acrobat or MS office installed previously? Or Multiple versions of MS office?
The steps you may want to try are:
1. Uninstall Acrobat using cleaner Tool : http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
2. Uninstall MS office.
3. Logon as local admin
4. Clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
5. Install MS Office, check for updates if any available.
6. Install Acrobat and make sure while installing Acrobat all the applications of MS office are closed.
Thank you for your response.
The issue is on 3 brand new PCs. They have not had any previous software on them. I have tried recreating the symptoms on my laptop (same O/S and Office) but it worked fine on mine.
I have tried removing and reinstalling but it didn't help. All products were updated and Office products were closed when I installed Acrobat. I am not based at the site with the issue but will be going back soon. I'll try disabling startup options as it's obviously an issue withe something on those 3 PCs.
I'll let you know how I get on.
I am wondering if you ever found a solution to this problem. I too am experiencing the same error when trying to create a PDF in any Office application. My IT administrator purchased Adobe Acrobat XI (version 11) and installed it on my computer and I have not been able to create a PDF unless I print to a PDF. He uninstalled Office and Adobe Acrobat and the same problem is still occurring. I am on Windows 2007 and Office 2010. We tried using the cleaner tool as well and it still isn't working. It's rather frustrating considering I want to be able to have control over the PDFs I am creating and the features/functionality of them that you do no get when printing to a PDF. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Check with your IT and tell them uninstall MS office 2010, Acrobat and then repair windows 7, if after reinstalling windows MS office 2010 and Acrobat it didnt work.
Most of the time it is registry values which are getting updated because of permission issues.
Do you have the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack" installed as well?
I noticed that PDFMaker wasn't working for me shortly after I installed that pack. Uninstalling it and repairing Microsoft Office appeared to fix the problem.
Thanks for the heads up Aaron. My IT tech was finally able to resolve the issue by uninstalling Microsoft Office again and doing a repair on Windows 7.
