You can go back to the previous version.
Does AE open up just fine if you launch it without opening a project?
Can you create and use a new project?
If so, it sounds like something in your project is causing a problem.
Do you happen to recall what was in your project?
I wonder if your issue is linked to this one: Knoll UnMult crashing AECC 13.1 update
I ended up solving it by renaming the my main video file as a .mov instead of a .mp4.
I would strongly advise people not to do this upgrade though. After Effects has been very problematic. it keeps crashing when I try to render my comp. the only work around I can think of is to render my comp in small chuncks then peice it together after wards. It doesn't always crash in the same place. The frustrating thing is that the previous version worked flawlessly...
I appreciate you answering my plea for help!
BTW i did go back, but the previous version of AE didn't work properly with PPro - I couldn't replace clips with a comp - when I tried AE just gave me a blank composition with no media... so i rolled back PPro, but I had been working in the new PPro and lost all the changes I'd made to the mix etc. So I decided instead of repeating the work I'd just done - which i hate to do - I'd forge ahead and see if I can make the new versions work.
As soon as this job is done I'm going back to the older versions if I still can!
How do I go back to a previous version of AE? I am having this problem also and need to render something ASAP. The workaround Adobe suggested didn't work so I'd like to just revert until it's resolved
I`m killed this err.
My problem was from video source.
You must find to problem source. photo or video, anywhere.
My AE version is CS6.
