1. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
Mark Mapes Oct 6, 2014 6:37 PM (in response to daveyd333)Please tell us more about the clip and the circumstances in the sequence:
- Is this with a project that you started in a prior version? If so, what happens if you create a new project in 2014.1 and set up the same situation from scratch?
- does the resolution of the clip match that of the sequence?
- Is the clip scaled? Repositioned? What other effects are applied?
- Do any effects on the clip have masking and tracking?
- Are any adjustment layers over the clip?
- What is Program Monitor's playback resolution set to?
- Is GPU acceleration enabled? If so, does switching Renderer to Software-Only change this behavior?
-
2. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
kevinccc Oct 7, 2014 6:58 AM (in response to daveyd333)I'm having the same issue.
It happens with any project that I created prior to the update.
For me the resolution of the clips all matched the sequence settings.
my clips were not scaled - I just used the 'auto scale, auto crop' option in warp stabilizer.
no other adjustments or masks added to the clip.
changing render didn't have any effect for me

3. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
Dalilozza Oct 7, 2014 10:40 AM (in response to daveyd333)I had the same problem too, I appeared on both old converted projects , both on new projects directly created with the new version of Premiere.
I solved using "scale to frame size" , so with any effect or level that I have above or below the current level I is more the fault with the stabilizer !

4. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
kevinccc Oct 7, 2014 11:03 AM (in response to Dalilozza)I tried using 'scale to frame' but it didn't work for me

starlightpics Oct 7, 2014 11:51 AM (in response to Mark Mapes)I have the same issue with warp stabilized clips. Only a portion of the image shows in the upper left corner.
1. Yes, it's a projected started from the previous version. Nothing fixes the issue now.
2. yes.
3. only stabilization effects applied
4. no
5. no
6. highest setting on macbook pro retina 13"
7. Software only render does NOT fix the issue.
Completely unacceptable. This bug needs to be fixed ASAP!

6. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
nmager Oct 7, 2014 2:34 PM (in response to daveyd333)I have the same exact issue.
I pulled the clip from my sequence, created a new sequence with the clip so as to automatically have the right sequence settings.
I applied warp stabilizer and exported the clip.

It seems like OS X 10.9.5 seems to be the thing people experiencing this issue have in common. Does anyone on this thread NOT running OS X 10.9.5?
Thanks,

10. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
daveyd333 Oct 7, 2014 3:53 PM (in response to daveyd333)Just got off the phone with Tech Support it is a known issue and they hope to have it fixed with the next update. The only issue appears to be warp stabilizer at this time. They have not released a date for the fix update.

KevinI'm not on 10.9.5 (currently running 10.8.5) but I decided not to update until this issue is resolved. Do PC users not have this issue? We use warp stabilizer WAY too much to have issues like this. Part of me wants to update just to test it, because each of our projects has a 100-200 warp stabilizers applied usually and it'd be easy to see if the issue was OSX related or not, but I'm afraid of wasting too much time with it. Hope it gets resolved soon. Thanks to Mark and Kevin for staying on top of this. Much appreciated. Hope a fix comes soon. I secretly wish there was a small community of PC and Mac users that could voluntarily be a part of a a few weeks of testing so that when an update comes out it's been a bit more flushed out in terms of bugs of this size. The x.0.1 updates usually resolve any nagging issues and they seem to come within a week or two. Not every bug can be caught of course, but hopefully this one is isolated and flushed out quickly.

13. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
daveyd333 Oct 7, 2014 4:50 PM (in response to Kevin Monahan)I do not, Sorry. In general, something about this update seem make my workflow process a little slower than previous version. He asked my name, number and email if that creates some kind of service ticket

14. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
daveyd333 Oct 7, 2014 5:16 PM (in response to Kevin Monahan)Kevin seems like the only way for me to finish my project is to revert to the previous version. I am not sure that I want to do that. Thank you for looking into it and I really appreciate what is going on behind the scenes to resolve this.

15. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
Mark Mapes Oct 7, 2014 6:16 PM (in response to daveyd333)I have not been able to reproduce any problem with warp stabilizer in Premiere Pro 8.1. I tested on 10.9.4, 10.9.5, and Windows 7, SP1.
Here's exactly how I tested this:
- Created a new project in Premiere Pro CC2014.0.1
- Imported a clip (on Windows, a 1280x720 mp4 clip; on Mac, a 1920x1080)
- Create a sequence from the clip (i.e., sequence matches clip)
- Applied Warp Stabilizer and waited for analysis to complete. [I did not change any settings from the default.]
- Saved & closed.
- Launched Premiere Pro CC2014.1 and opened the project created in 2014.0.1
- Scrubbed the timeline. --> No problems
- Rendered the sequence
- Scrubbed the timeline. --> No problems
If your workflow is different in any substantial way (e.g., changing a setting on the Warp Stabilizer.)
Also, at this point, I'm very interested in getting a project from one of you, ideally with just one short clip in the timeline. If you're willing to share a project and a clip, you can send it to me at "mapes (at) adobe -dot- com"

17. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
daveyd333 Oct 7, 2014 7:06 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)I am trying a short clip now using your workflow. Importing a 1920 x 1080 60 fps clip, creating sequence from clip and applied WS (default). Saved, Closed and Reopened. I am still getting the same result. Notice the video only in the upper left corner. When scrubbing I can see the video playback, so it is not a still. Could there possibly be a setting I don't have on? I never had any issues until that update and I use WS often as it helps with my aerial sequences. I will email the project to you.

18. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
Mark Mapes Oct 7, 2014 7:30 PM (in response to daveyd333)Nobody is questioning that there's a problem. In fact, there may be two different problems as your screenshots show an entirely different issue than the videos posted by nmager in Post #6.
What we need to do now is focus on isolating the cause. The quickest way to do so might be to collect some projects.
If that doesn't unveil the culprit, then next would be to collect a variety of info about your hardware, workflow, source content, etc.

19. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
DMH79 Oct 8, 2014 9:23 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)Mark,
As you know I use quite a bit of warp stabilizer in my projects. Hundreds of clips per project. I finally updated tonight on one of my computers just to test this update and I have not found any issues with any of my stabilized clips! Phew! Seems to be fine. I added new stabilizers and it was all good. 2011 iMac i7 16gb ram, AMD 6970M 1GB running OSX 10.8.5 Just thought I'd chime in here not to annoy the poster because it's an obviously annoying issue for them, but just to let you know it's fine on my end and also, you mentioned nmager's post#6 has a different issue...but if you pause his video it seems to alternate from full screen to video in the corner just like daveyd333's issue. Just wanted to share that.

20. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
Mark Mapes Oct 8, 2014 10:49 PM (in response to DMH79)Thanks for the report, DMH. Glad this issue is not affecting you.
In limited testing today with a project that Daveyd333 sent me, I was not been able to repro, either. Which just means we'll need to dig deeper to figure out what's going on.

21. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
Miles Langley Oct 9, 2014 2:31 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)Within Premiere Pro Warp, Stabilizer is working for me without any issue. The problem arrises after rendering out to .mp4 (standard Vimeo/YouTube settings) that the black flicker problem occurs as in nmager's examples above. And an example of what happens for me: the flicker - YouTube

Supercow75 Oct 9, 2014 11:37 AM (in response to Supercow75)Update!
Problem resolved by disabling GPU rendering:
-File
-Project Settings
-General
-Under Renderer choose software only
Thanks Mark for Question #7 up top. I had forgotten, the old version version actually turned off hardware acceleration when it was starting up at the OS level. This is a much more elegant solution, now possibly making it the default unless it detects a GPU rendering compatible card would be even better.

24. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
justinkgutwein Oct 9, 2014 2:16 PM (in response to Supercow75)This solution worked for me as well. Hopefully they get this fixed soon. Without the graphics card support, the export is taking about 4 times as long! Thanks for getting this figured out in the short term!

25. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
Supercow75 Oct 9, 2014 2:39 PM (in response to justinkgutwein)Welcome! For me this is the long term solution! I'm on a thinkpad with intel graphics...so no rendering assistance there. Good luck with the long term solution.

tranqfx Oct 30, 2014 1:44 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)I'm having the same problem as posted by daveyd
Running Yosemite. It seems to have begun when I updated to the most recent release of Premier Pro (don't recall when that was exactly, perhaps a month ago?)
Alternatively. When I open the clips in After Effects, warp stabilizer DOES work properly.

28. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
MikeSam Oct 31, 2014 4:11 AM (in response to tranqfx)I was experiencing the exact same problem as the OP. Running Yosemite, and Premiere Pro 8.1.
I fixed it by changing to CUDA rendering (or Software Only, but CUDA is obviously much quicker), on the MacBook Pro.
But I note that didn't fix it for you tranqfx. Did you remember to change it to CUDA/Software Only under File>Project Settings>General?

38. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
emmarkstudios Nov 1, 2014 8:28 PM (in response to Mark Mapes)After turning off GPU to be able to continue to edit I have now found that on rendering my premiere project through encoder, with GPU off for rendering, it is rendering my project with the cropped video! This really isnt good enough. We pay good money for software that works, being unable to render a project where warp stabiliser is required is a huge inconvenience!
-
39. Re: Just did an PP update and Warp Stabilizer does not work.
Mark Mapes Nov 3, 2014 1:08 AM (in response to emmarkstudios)If you are exporting through AME, you need to switch Renderer to Software Only independently in that app.
