1. Re: Redirect to Google Analytics enriched URL
Robert Bell (Bosweb) Oct 8, 2014 8:55 PM (in response to jenwhitie)Tracking parameters in the URL are used to determine where traffic is coming from outside your site, not which page they're looking at, or which page on your site they're coming from.
GA already knows the visitor has opened the page, and which of your pages they have opened previously. Those URL parameters provide no additional information.
You only need tracking parameters in the links to your site that come from outside your site - e.g., in email campaigns, or the links you provide to affiliates.

2. Re: Redirect to Google Analytics enriched URL
jenwhitie Oct 9, 2014 10:03 AM (in response to Robert Bell (Bosweb))The original link http://www.mosscreek.net/lhl is provided from a magazine ad.
We want to redirect the link with the google tracking so that we can know track our printed ad

3. Re: Redirect to Google Analytics enriched URL
Robert Bell (Bosweb) Oct 9, 2014 2:44 PM (in response to jenwhitie)If you were successfull in redirecting from /lhl to /lhl?utm..., that would tell you only that someone tried to visit the page /lhl, not that they were just reading the magazine.
The link you gave to the magazine for the ad needed to be unique, for you to be able to tell who followed the link from there.
