This looks like color management issues. The latest update for CC added color management to dynamic link. I would suggest you learn as much as you can about Color Management or just turn it off.
I've tried exporting it with several color profiles and with the option turned off... it didn't change the results in any way...
What happens if you render to something like a tiff sequence and replace the footage in PPro? Is your monitor calibrated? What versions of AE and PPro are you using? There are too few details in your questions to formulate anything but a guess.
I'm sorry, you are absolutely right! I was panicking so much when I made the original post that I left out the most important information!
First of all, this is a chroma key image. The character was filmed in front of a green screen and the "smokey" effects were added in After effects after I keyed out the green. I've tried exporting it in all possible formats and with several color management profiles selected, to no avail.
I'm using CS6 for both Premiere and AE.
Could this be related to the alpha/gamma proprieties of the image or effect?
CS6 what decimal point. Make sure both are up to date. Many bugs have been fixed since the release.
To check the alpha use the inspector on your rendered footage. Make sure it is pegged.
Premiere Pro 6.0.0
After Effects 220.127.116.11
I'm sorry, but I have no idea what the inspector is...
