    Flash 8 members not reloading correctly

    Level 7
      I have a Flash 8 member that plays ok the first time through. I think use
      the memberUnload function, but when reloading the Flash 8 member and trying
      to play it again, I get errors. Specifically, the Flash Math.Random()
      function starts returning undefined values.

      Is this a Flash 8 problem or does anyone have another suggestion?

      Thanks,

      Brian

          Director does not play Flash 8. In Flash you should publish your movie as
          Flash 7. Set this in the Publish Settings (i.e., File ==> Publish Settings.

            There was an update a few months ago that brought Flash 8 support. You
            need to update Director to the newest version (10.1.1). Then Flash 8
            files will work (as well as a load of other improvements like the
            ability to convert Director image data into Flash bitmaps and use the
            realtime bitmap controls, like drop shadow, blur, etc)

              The original poster said: "I have a Flash 8 member that plays ok the first time through" so I'm guessing ithe flash 8 xtra must already be present.

              It sounds more likely to do with the flash movie not initialising properly or something. Perhaps you could try using the lingo command:

              member("your flash member").preload()

              before using the flash movie? (if you haven't tried it already!)
