SurendraPal1410 Oct 14, 2014 1:32 AM (in response to depvisionquest)Which Windows version?
When you insert your card/camera, are you seeing an autoplay dialog? If so, at the bottom of autoplay you will see a text saying 'View more autoplay options in control panel'. Click here. In the coming dialog, adjacent to Pictures/Video files and Audio files, click on flyout to select 'Organizer and Edit using PSE xx'. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you.

depvisionquest Oct 16, 2014 9:12 PM (in response to SurendraPal1410)First of all I have Windows 8.1. Yes, that's right, 8.1.
IO received a notice last Sunday that there was an update waiting to be
loaded etc., so naturally I thought it was similar to the updates that occur
al the time. I loaded it, and it took about 45 minutes to complete. I
wished I would never have loaded this to the upgrade, because I had to bring
my computer into Staples for service work because it really did a number on
my apps and several other items. I just got my computer back, and that
is when I noticed your message which I thank you for very much.
Now when I insert a flashcard into my computer nothing happens..... No
screen appears at all. In order for me to get to the photo downloader, I
have to open up Photoshop 13, get to the organizer, and click on import, and
then the download screen appears.
To answer your initial question, no, I don't see an autoplay dialog or any
text that says: "View more autoplay options in control panel". This
entire situation is unbelievable, because I have had PS since #3, and I
always got to the Photo Downloader whenever I inserted a card. Not being a
computer whiz, I have absolutely no idea how to fix this. Adobe's chat
room was not any help at all AND, they don't service Photoshop Elements on
the phone.
I surely would welcome ANY help and/or suggstions you might have that
would help me.
Thanks in advance.....
Dave
(I might add that after installing 8.1, some of the various areas I would
go to to do some changes and/or fixing are no longer there. If you have
Windows 8.0 and receive this downlaod to 8.1, DON'T DO IT!!!!)

SurendraPal Oct 17, 2014 12:28 AM (in response to depvisionquest)So it appears that somehow windows autoplay dialog has been disabled on your system. There can be multiple reasons for it and hence various workarounds. Also this being an OS issue, might involve modifying some registries. For now, lets try the simplest solution:
1. Launch control panel. Refer to step #1 of solution #3 on my blog: Photoshop Elements (PSE) knowledge base.
2. When auto play opens, type 'auto' in search box (at top right side).
3. Click on 'auto play' text.
4. In the coming dialog, verify that check box for 'use auto play for all media and devices' (at the top of the window) is checked. If not, please do it.
Once done, it should open the autoplay dialog. If not, then we need to further dig into it.
Please let me know if you are able to see autoplay dialog.

Cross your fingers, but I may have solved this. Prior to receiving
your last set of instructions, I went into AutoPlay, selected media (Photos
etc.), and then selected something like "Edit and send to Photoshop Elements
13" etc. etc., and so far it is working. By working, I mean that now when
I insert a card, it is going to Photo Downloader like before.
WHEW...... Darn I hope this is solved. I will keep you posted if all is
okay in a few days.
BUT.................................... Your willingness to help me is
SOOOOOO appreciated, you'll never know how much. How nice that there are
people out there like you that will give of their time to help a computer
idiot.
My very very best - and thanks again,

I have had so many problems with my card reader etc., I am almost afraid
to say that everything seems to be solved/okay etc. As I mentioned, I
just went into Autoplay and made the correct selection under media and then
photos. SO............. At this point in time my problem is solved, and

depvisionquest Oct 28, 2014 5:15 PM (in response to SurendraPal)Dear Surendra,
I don't know if this is the way to communicate with you, but I am going to
try. Obviously anything you can help me with will be deeply appreciated.
I have had many versions of PS, and whenever I wanted to put photos on a
CD, was to go to "EDIT", then click on "Copy/move to removable drive", and
then bay E would appear and I would go from there and over the years I have
done this perhaps 2-300 times. BUT..... Now when I click on
"Copy/move" etc., I end up in a program called "Power2Go", which I never heard of
and cannot negotiate thru it.
SO................... Is Power2Go a PS program? If not, I will
delete it. If it is, can you provide a step by step procedure? About 2
weeks ago I upgraded from Windows 8.0 to 8.1 (Which I wished I never would
have done), and in the process my computer was really screwed up (As you
will recall). If you never have moved photos to a CD, you may not be
able to help me. But I am praying that you have and that you can help me.
With so much to say, I didn't think the from would be the best route for
me to take. I waited 2.5 hours for Adobe help on the chat line and nobody
ever responded. Lousy service from Adobe AND they no longer provide
telephone tech support.
Many thanks in advance if you are able to help me.
My Best,
Dave

SurendraPal Oct 29, 2014 10:33 PM (in response to depvisionquest)Hi Dave,
I told you I am here for you and I don't break my promises
Some queries regarding your last post:
- When you said PS, are you referring to Photoshop or you meant Photoshop Elements (PSE)?
- If I remember correctly, 'Copy/Move to removable drive' option was in 'File' menu (and not in Edit menu) at least from PSE10 ownwards. Can you please post a snapshot which shows this option in Organizer.
- After searching on internet, Power2Go is a disc writing utility from CyberLink and has nothing to do with PSE. So I don't understand why/how Elements Organizer will invoke it? Can you please post a snapshot showing the first screen of this utility (and hook up is shown).
- Please let me know your use-case (what you are trying to achieve). Hopefully I will be able to guide you to the recommended practice.

depvisionquest Oct 30, 2014 12:24 PM (in response to SurendraPal)First of all, bless you for responding back to me - you are super to me,
and I appreciate your help immensely.
When I was trying to find "Power2Go" in my programs the other day, I could
not locate it. I just went into programs again and stupid me I found
several CYBERLINK programs, one of which is this Power2Go. (See photo
attached). Before I send other photos and go into detail, I am going to ask you
if I deleted all of the Cyberlink programs, will the PSE then take over
like before? And yes, when I stated PS, I did mean Photoshop Elements.
Sorry I did not get back with you yesterday - I was in meetings almost
all day.
ALSO..... My error - "Copy/Move etc," is in the FILE menu, and not Edit -
my mental typo error.
The date that Cyberlink was added was 9/3, and I believe (I think) that
was the date that Microsoft notified me to upgrade to 8.1 which I did (Wished
I wouldn't have) - because I know I did not download this bunch of
Cyberlink programs. From a friend of mine that is about 1000% sharper on
computers than I told me that MS is having all sorts of problems with 8.1 -????
I don't want any Cyberlink stuff, but again, if I delete, will PSE then
take over as before?
I will await your response before I proceed any further.
And again, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING THERE FOR ME.

SurendraPal Oct 30, 2014 10:37 PM (in response to depvisionquest)Dave,
Thank you for such kind words and for reverting back with answers.
Here is my understanding of your problem: From Elements Organizer, when you click 'File->Copy move' then Power2Go utility launches itself and try to do the rest of the work. Am I correct here? If so, this is very strange as Organizer is not supposed to launch any "outside" app (Power2Go in this case).
The expected behaviour here is: after clicking the 'File->Copy/move' a dialog comes which asks for choosing between copy or move. Once done, user clicks on next button, he/she is shown the possible destinations (interal HDD/external HDD/mounted network drives/CD/DVD etc) where files can be moved/copied. User select any option and app does the copy/move. But at your side (i guess) when you select CD/DVD as destination drive then Power2GO app launches which does writing. This should not happen. Can you please post a snapshot showing hook up/UI of Power2Go (couldn't find the snapshot attached by you in last post)?
Regarding your another query: Since PSE and Cyberlink are two separate apps (from different vendors I would say) so uninstalling Cyberlink would have no impact on PSE. Hence if CyberLink is an unwanted app for you, you can uninstall it without any concern.
Please let me know if you have any queries.

depvisionquest Oct 31, 2014 12:46 PM (in response to SurendraPal)Surendra,
You've been super with me... If you get very many "customers" like me,
you wouldn't get anything done...
Perhaps this is overkill, but I am going to review my steps along with
photos, and I am sure you can put the photo with text:
1. I select the photo(s) I want to put on a CD
2. I go to FILE...
3. I then click on "Copy/Move" etc.
4. A screen appears (see attached) showing step #1. I then cick on
NEXT..
5. Next screen appears (attached) shopwing in there block "Recovery
Image (D:) (In the past 10 years this has shown Image (E:) ) I then click
on the image of D:, and then click on DONE.
6. I then get a small mini screen stating "The operation completed
successfully", and I click on OK
7. NOTHING HAPPENS..... (The end) ????????????
If in the screen showing Recovery Image D: I click on BROWSE and select
DVD Drive (E:), I am then asked to insert a disc into drive "E", then the
screen "Power2Go? appears. I select "Photo Gallery Disc" and select CD. I
then get this "Upgrade now" mini screen (attached) and that's it - IT
ENDS, and nothing happens etc.

16. Re: (no subject)
SurendraPal Nov 3, 2014 9:54 PM (in response to depvisionquest)Hi Dave,
I got the snapshots. Thanks a lot.
To me, it appears following might be your scenario:
1. Select a media in grid and click on 'File->Copy/move' and then 'next' button.
2. In the second window you are shown only one option ie Recovery Image (D:).
Some quick questions here:
- Why there is no listing of the other destination options (like E:\, F:\, G:\ drive) under 'select destination drive'. Are you using an external CD/DVD writer which you connected to system after launching Organizer (hence Organizer is not aware about it). If so, please quit Orgainzer and re-connect CD/DVD writer. Now launch Organizer and see if CD/DVD option (along with other drives) is shown or not.
- Do you have multiple CD/DVD drive connected to your system (E:\ and F:\)? Please confirm.
3. You select 'Recovery Image (D:)' as option and click on 'browse' button. Here you select option for 'CD/DVD' and then (windows) shows a message asking for inserting disc doing on which it launches Power2Go.
Are these the steps you following? Please correct me if any step needs modification.
If these are the steps, then only issue we are looking here is why all your drives are not listed under 'Select destination drive' pane. Please follow the instructions listed in step #2 and let me know the results.
We will talk about Power2Go once our issue is resolved.
~Surendra
PS: Just a tip, you can easily take snapshots by pressing 'Print Screen' button of your keyboard (on a screen which you want to take snapshot). Open MS paint and click 'ctrl+v' and you will have your snapshot ready.

17. Re: (no subject)
depvisionquest Nov 11, 2014 1:24 PM (in response to SurendraPal)Hi my friend,
It's been a while since I wrote to you. I've been trying to try
different approaches, but I just cannot get my PSE to work as it has for the past
20 years. No matter what I do, after I select copy/move to a renewable
disk etc., it always defaults to (D:) drive (Recovery drive) , and I cannot
get it to (E:) Drive which is where it belongs. Consequently everything
stops. I can't believe that version #13 is different than the past 12
versions, so I will wait until tomorrow when I will receive a HOW TO book for
Photoshop Elements #13, and if it states that I should have Drive (E:), then
I need to find out how to replace (D:) with (E:).
Every since I uploaded to Windows 8.1 my computer has been screwed up.
AND, I now have no confidence in Staples to be able to fix anything. I am
thinking (With my minimal knowledge of computers) that if I uninstalled PSE
#13 an then installed it again, maybe (just maybe) things might work out.
SO................ I once again called Adobe and lied again so that I
could get a person to provide service, and I was able to get someone
(obviously from India), and asked for the actual disc so I could reload etc. In
case I didn't tell you, I ended up with #13 via a upload from Adobe - hence
no disc. SO, I cab get into Adobe and downloads, provide the serial
number of the original disc that Adobe used, and I can load #13 again.
Like a idiot I did not ask the man if (D:) was right, and/or if there was a
way I could get my photos to the (E:) Drive. (I may have to call back and
lie - but they keep a log, so this time they may say BYE ).
We have a computer repair company in Great Falls, and I sent them a fax
regarding my problems and asked them to call me if they felt they could fix
it. If they can, then off I go to see if I can get "Things" back in order.
This computer I have I bought in Feb of 2013, and I have had nothing but
problems starting this past May. - most due to messes that Staples got me
in to.
SO, just thought I would bring you up to date - I'll let you know if I
ever get this problem solved.
My best,
Dave
(BTW.................. I deleted all Cyberlink programs in my computer,
and this still did not solve the Drive (D;) problem)
