Mylenium Oct 11, 2014 5:20 AM (in response to Joproject)Unless you plan on using Raytrace 3D all the time, none of this matters.

Joproject Oct 11, 2014 5:35 AM (in response to Mylenium)Thanks Mylenium.
I mean, I work 80-90% of time with videohive/revostock templates. I need Raytrace 3d performance or no ?
My PC is:
i7 5930k/5960x
32Gb ddr4
Asus X99 Deluxe
3 SSD (windows, AE cache, video of current work)
2 HD (final work, storage, ecc.)
ecc. ecc.
My doubt is all about the video card. Up to 1 month ago I was sure to take the GTX 780 Ti... now I don't know. The generation of 780 work very well with CS6, I saw the preview slide smoothly. If GTX 980 is the best only for videogame then...

No.

Joproject Oct 11, 2014 9:24 AM (in response to Todd_Kopriva)Really ? Are you sure ?
So, the performance in after effects template with gtx 780 ti, gtx 980, gtx 760, ecc. are the same ?
For my need, what is the right nvidia ? (please, don't write quadro series...)

Todd_Kopriva Oct 11, 2014 2:47 PM (in response to Joproject)> Are you sure ?
Yes. If I were not sure about this, then I wonder who would be.
After Effects uses the GPU for almost nothing.
Details are here:
GPU (CUDA, OpenGL) features in After Effects
The ray-traced 3D renderer is almost entirely irrelevant. It is only used for very simple extrusions of shapes and text, and most people do (and should) use other 3D features to do this kid of work in After Effects.

Peru Bob Oct 11, 2014 3:00 PM (in response to Joproject)Do you use Premiere Pro also?

7. Re: Nvidia GTX 780 Ti or GTX 980 (AE CS6)
Joproject Oct 11, 2014 3:10 PM (in response to Peru Bob)No, I don't use Premiere Pro (I use GV Edius)
Now, considered all this talk, with i7 5th generation, Asus x99, 32Gb ddr4, what video card should I choose?
Very thanks!

If GFX cards don't make a difference, but you are considering exploring raytracing someday, with either Element 3D plugin or just built in AE raytracing. A Gaming card will benefit you massively. So you might as well go for it, then you at least have the option.
A lot of people will tell you that raytracing in after effects is not 'proper' raytracing. They would be right. But as E3D V2 is going to be basically realtime 'raytracing'. You will have the option to learn those principles in realtime. Then if you are interested enough to start doing 'proper' raytracing on better software. You'll know wtf you are doing, long before you are put off by how long everything takes at that level.
And hell if you don't explore it, at least your gaming experience will be AWESOME.

Szalam Nov 17, 2014 9:52 AM (in response to Reach4da_random)And, if you want to do your own 3d in AE, you can do it for real instead of faking it with Element; Cinema 4D now comes free with AE! Details of CINEMA 4D integration with After Effects
