I think it's simple but still I don't get it. Can anybody tell me what the difference between "Original" and "As Shot" in the Crop-Tool is. I guess both do somehow respect the original format of the picture but why are there two settings for something that looks like the same to me.

Because more and more cameras now have the ability to set an in-camera crop ratio, Adobe introduced the ability to select in the Crop Tool the ratio used in-camera (As-Shot, which is the default), or to see the full-size raw image before the in-camera crop was made (Original).
