What program and version are you using - Photoshop Elements (photo editor) or Premiere Elements (video editor). Your thread has been posted

If you have Premiere Elements, you might be referring to Safety Margins. In that case, you right click the Edit area monitor and then, in the pop up menu, click on "Safety Margins" to make them disappear. If you want them back, you do the same thing.
Are the two rectangles in the following screenshot what you are trying to get rid of?
