1. Re: Surround sound center channel play on the center channel and the left channel
Nick J Best Oct 18, 2014 7:10 PM (in response to Nick J Best)After spending all day on this, problem I finally found a work around. I hope this will help you if you have the same problem...
First off, the following is how I realized the issue: (the following screen shots are all of PPCC8)
I created a 5.1 sequence in PPCC7. (5.1 master mono audio tracks). I put a single file on the audio track and slid the "panning puck" into the front center pocket. Result: the 5.1 meter showed center speaker playback only (correct).
Then I reopened the PPCC7 project in PPCC8 and noticed the "Panning puck was not in the center pocket, but it was just outside of it, centered left and right and sitting on the front edge of of the box .. however if you look at the position values it's center front and played in the center speaker only: Left/Right 0.00 Front/Rear -100.00 (correct)
Then I slid the "Panning Puck" into the pocket ... that's when the sound moved to the left speaker too... but again if you look at the values in the following picture below it a little to the left:
Left/Right -7.32 Front/Rear -100 (NOT 0.00 and -100) (NOT CORRECT)
The hard part is getting that puck back to the position just in front of the center pocket, it just doesn't want to sit in the center just in front of the pocket, So:
Double click the panning window to default the puck to the center: (position value Left/Right 0.00 Front/Rear 0.00)
Then on the head of the audio track select: Track Panner > Front-Rear:
And slide the line to the top of the clip and the puck will be where it needs to be: front and center and the audio will be assigned to the center speaker only: (Position Value Left/Right 0.00 Front/Back -100.00)
I hope this helps.
