I'm still wondering why my DNG-files from my new Sony RX100 mark III couldn't be read by Mavericks until I installed a update that included the new Sony camera.
I first imported the RAW-files as RAW-files (by the newest version of Lightroom), but couldn't see the files in Apple Preview. So I decided to convert the RAW-files to DNG by importing them again (via Lightroom). But it wasn't possible to view the DNG-files in Apple Preview until the update of Mavericks.
So my question is, is DNG not as standardised as I thought it was?
The DNG file format is standardized as far as where information is stored. And it is openly documented accordingly. I don't know anything about Mavericks, so Apple must be looking at something unique, such as camera model. Of course, that is only a guess.
