I'm having issues with Lightroom 5.6 on the latest version of OSX Yosemite as well. My issues are that imports are failing one of my SD cards is importing photos RAW with a black and white preset applies even when the develop setting is set to [none] and now it won't import from any images from two other SD cards used by two different cameras. Seems like very peculiar behavior since I've never had these many issues with Lightroom :/
I am having a similar problem with my iMac and Yosemite. I cannot upload any photos from my 3 different Sony Cameras.
What the heck are we suppose to do? Is it Apples or LR5 issues?
It is your issue neither Apples nor Adobes.
Now tell us which version of OS and Lightroom and any error messages you get. Also how are you importing and to where???
Pretty hard to help you when you provide no information!!
Not sure what you mean it is my fault!
OSX Yosemite Version 10.10.1
LR 5 - all updates completed
Error message " Following files were not imported because they cold not be read"
Three different cameras - getting same message. SonyA57, Sony A600- trying both raw and fine files
So I presume you are using Lightroom 5.7.1 then...
I am saying it is an issue with your computer.
Now somewhere there is a permissions error with a folder you are trying to copy the files to. That is it could be the destination folder or one higher up the tree.
As you didn't answer the question from where to where I can't suggest where where might be...
I am importing directly from the camera to the computer directly into LR. and yes LR 5.7.1.
I did try going into Macs preferences- library and deleted all adobe.com preferencefiles and did a restart - but that did not correct the problem.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated, been working on this all day!
The files are going to the MACs general picture folder and showing up as DSC....ARW at the end.....if that helps.
Also they are also able to downloaded into iPhoto.
It is not a Lightroom problem but a permissions issue on your Mac caused by Yosemite upgrades.
iPhoto places files inside a package it generates so permissions are set by iPhoto.... note you can't see the files just an iPhoto Library package.
Now are you attempting to have the files copied into the pictures folder or a folder inside that.
Please be precise.
The photos/files have previously imported directly into LR,and automaticly import into the Library HD on the MAC. They are showing in the MAC 'Library" but with DSC....ARW -at the end.....
With the permissions issue- I have run the disk utility twice now, restarted the computer but still not working.
Does this info help?
Getting there bit by bit.
Don't do things not asked for.... Disk Utility does not have anything to do with this and cannot help.
Now Lightroom does not contain any image files just links to where you/Lightroom has had the OS copy or move them too. iPhoto buries them as I mentioned but Lightroom doesn't as you know. They are in your Pictures folder.
I asked if they are all just in the Pictures Folder or in another folder inside of Pictures???
See somewhere the OS has changed the read/write permissions of a folder that Lightroom is using. We need to track down which one.
This is done by selecting a folder and using cmd-i and checking the Permissions like this:
The bit at the bottom is what we are looking at.
Now are you files inside Pictures or inside another folder??
Check the read/write permissions of the month and the year folders with cmd-i. I have had much the same issue with OS upgrades. It is a common thing now.
