OpenGL defaulting to Intel HD3000 instead of Nvidia card how to change?

I have a GeForce GTX 570 but for some reason OpenGL is defaulting to my onboard intel HD 3000 card. I cannot figure out how to switch it to the 570. I need this for element 3D to work. Any suggestions?

disable onboard in bios.

Yes thank you I know I can disable the card but is there really no way to be able to choose which ones is used for opengl?
