I am sorry for the tone of my message, but i am desperate, and was totally freaking out when i wrote the message. i have no idea how to contact Adobe, but the chat does not seem to work for me. nor does Lightroom. I can see my serial numbers and product purchases inside my account inside adobe. but everywhere i click for help takes me back to same place. Is there even a phone number anymore to contact a real person? the chat tells me to close the browser...done that several times.
does anyone know where i can go?
Sounds like you have installed the Creative Cloud version of LR and your License Key is for the perpetual version which will not work. Uninstall the version you have installed and download the one from the link below.

Thanks for the links, but I am not sure what happened. I have downloaded it
twice. The first time, I thought my connection hung up and might have
corrupted it. Second download went much faster. Both times it took my serial
numbers (for 5 and the upgrade from 4). Once it opened the interface was
blank with a normal lightroom border. In the center of the screen was the
error message, I copied here: An error occurred when attempting to change
I am giving up for tonite:(. It is 1:30 am here and I have to go to work
tomorrow. I do not know what to do at this point. If I cannot get the
software running tomorrow, I will be in serious trouble with my deadline. I
am at a loss. I have used lightroom since version 1, and have never had any
problems running it.
