Accidentally deleted photos should be in trash-can/recycle-bin - aren't they?
Thanks for the suggestion. I had not thought of that. Unfortunately, the deleted photos were not in the recycle bin. I was able to import all the JPG versions from my iPad into Lightroom so now only missing the RAW. I have learned a valuable lesson and will never attempt to move any files using Lightroom in the future.
Thanks for your help,
Find an "undelete utility" (one such utility is called Recuva, but I have never used it) and see if it can recover your RAW photos. If you are going to do this, do not perform any other tasks on your computer except to find, download, install and run this undelete utility. If possible, download and install on a different drive than the photos were on. You can also try this undelete utility on your camera card.
While I'm at it, you might want to develop and implement a backup strategy, in which you don't delete from the camera card until you have TWO (or more) copies of your photos, on TWO (or more) different physical disks. And don't forget to back up your catalog file regularly and automatically.
Thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded Recuva and ran it on my memory card and both external drives, but still no luck.
Also, I appreciate the backup strategy suggestion. I have already decided that there will be TWO copies of images, one on each external drive BEFORE I even launch Lightroom for import into the catalog. And, yes, I do back up my Lightroom catalog weekly.
