Liam Dilley Oct 29, 2014 3:41 PM (in response to M R K Development Pty Ltd)Hey Ketan,
With the V3 API it is like the web app API with the authentication token method. Since this is not supported outside of apps and the new module BC have are you fetching the token when logged in? As I been told this is an insecure authentication method until BC do the sever to server oAuth.
Or can you run the username and password method like with SOAP currently with these?

M R K Development Pty Ltd Oct 30, 2014 9:53 PM (in response to Liam Dilley)Hi Liam,
You are correct in stating that these can be achieved using SOAP APIs. However we have made a conscious decision to use v3 api as it is in sync with todays best practises. We've had issues with the SOAP API before and found it to be incomplete.
v3 api's is the correct way to move forward. A simple example is, v3 has api's for customer types, lead source types, order statuses etc etc which were not available with SOAP and hence limiting us to developing full fledged value added applications on top of the API.
Thanks again for your reply.
I am really excited about v3 and would like to compliment Adobe for taking the step in the right direction!
Regards,
-Ketan.

M R K Development Pty Ltd Oct 30, 2014 9:55 PM (in response to Liam Dilley)update:
Yes Liam, I am fetching the token from the BC admin at present. This is just a stop-gap approach right now to make our application ready and feature complete until business catalyst implements the oauth workflow for external apps.
