    Probably a simple question!

      Real simple...(probably!!)

I have a saved square-shaped .jpeg image. The image is a background gradient color i made (from an online website-helping tool)

How do I convert/transform this shape to a circle?

I have tried a few things but cant seem to pull it off.....

I thought to select paths and punch a hole....no joy......create the shape using eclipse then cut out....no joy....

There is probably a very easy way but googling the problem wasnt a help either.

** Ideally i guess the best thing would be to save the image as a color that could be used to fill background...?

Would be grateful for all assistance...

Not sure what you mean by the background gradient. I suggest you upload the
image somewhere we can see it.

but as we enjoy working in the dark :-) Here goes...

Two ways I would do this.

          1. Drag out your Vector Ellipse and place it approximately where you require
it over the top of your image. Select image > Edit > Cut. Now select your
Vector Ellipse shape and > Edit > Paste Inside. By breaking (clicking it)
the link in the Layers panel you can make some final adjustments to the
positioning of your image in the Circle.

          2. Drag out your Vector Ellipse and place it approximately where you require
it over the top of your image. Fill your circle with solid white colour.
Select both your image and your circle > Modify > Mask > Group as Mask. Ctrl
          + Alt + T to trim.

Have you tried masking the square-shaped .jpg image?

Create a elliptical item on your canvas, make sure that the layer is above the .jpg image. Create a mask on the .jpg image by selecting its layer and click the quick mask tool. Cut elliptical tool and paste it on the mask section of the .jpg image.

                I hope I'm making sense.
