1. Re: Send for shared review - What type of Web server folder works?
CtDave Oct 29, 2014 8:08 PM (in response to shawninvancouver)The share will have to be a properly setup WebDAV folder.
Be well...

shawninvancouver Oct 30, 2014 1:44 PM (in response to CtDave)Thanks CtDave.
I ended up building a WebDAV server and I am now encountering a bunch of new issues. Such as:
From my workstation, working with Acrobat.
- After making comments. I click the top button "Publish Comments" - this works well - no errors. But when I attempt to exit the PDF, Acrobat wants to save the document. Attempting to Save results in a read-only error. After trying this, Acrobat gets into a loop where there doesn't appear to be a way to exit Acrobat (other than by Save As new file name):
Even worse... I understood that reviewers only required the Adobe Reader in order to comment. This doesn't seem to be the case.
When I emailed a test document for review, this is the message that pops up:
All that is available is the original content (none of the review comments are available).
Any ideas?

Sabian Zildjian Oct 31, 2014 7:17 AM (in response to shawninvancouver)The exit Save dialog is so the users have a local copy of the document. About the second dialog about Extended Rights document being changed, check how you are sending the file (i.e. with or without compression) If it's being sent with compression then it's probably munging the certificate that is used to enable the Reader-extended capabilities. However you would be better served to just have your users update to Adobe Reader XI which has commenting enabled by default.

I forgot about my last message. I should have posted an update. All the above has since been solved.

Actually, the solution was to simply go into Acrobat and Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Commenting & Measuring -- Then send that new PDF to reviewers.
Now, I have one last issue to work out...
I was disappointed to learn that when I sent the PDF to a reviewer, the reviewer needed the user name and password to the webDAV server. Why isn't the authentication embedded in the PDF? Or am I not setting something correctly? I would rather not share the webDAV's authentication with the entire company, if I can avoid that,
Thank you

Revisiting this issue. It appears to be a bug. When you get this dialog, the only way to exit the PDF is by clicking Save Draft. Clicking Cancel will return you to this dialog when you attempt the exit the PDF.

Sabian Zildjian Oct 31, 2014 10:21 AM (in response to shawninvancouver)Possibly a bug? I find that if Publish Comments button is pressed it usually should take care of this dialog. After that then if it appears again then it's Cancel or Save Draft if you want to be extra careful.
