1. Re: Why are my edits and tags not showing up in migrated LR4?
dave_doeppel Oct 30, 2014 12:55 PM (in response to VeronikaCofAZ)If you moved all of your RAW files and move the locate files over, the locate is what holds your edits. You should just have to open the catalog. Did you do importing or anything other than moving the files?

3. Re: Why are my edits and tags not showing up in migrated LR4?
dave_doeppel Oct 30, 2014 2:17 PM (in response to VeronikaCofAZ)I understand, but on the Mac when you launched Lightroom, did you then open the new default catalog, or the one you migrated? if it was the default it would have been empty and then you would have imported images.

4. Re: Why are my edits and tags not showing up in migrated LR4?
VeronikaCofAZ Oct 30, 2014 2:34 PM (in response to dave_doeppel)Sadly, I can't remember exactly what steps I did. I followed whatever it was telling me to do. I remember being a baffled that it was telling me to import but there were no choices in the right side column for where I should import to, only the file naming and develop presets options. Does that tell you anything? And I can't remember how I finally made it work. (I only know enough to be dangerous with this stuff!)

5. Re: Why are my edits and tags not showing up in migrated LR4?
dave_doeppel Oct 30, 2014 2:38 PM (in response to VeronikaCofAZ)it sounds like you opened the defaultime catalog. You need to open the lrcat file that you copied from the PC. You can either double click it or access it from Lightroom'so file menu. It will already havery your images but it will show files are missing. If you can do that then the next step will be relinking. But let's get he right catalog open first.

6. Re: Why are my edits and tags not showing up in migrated LR4?
VeronikaCofAZ Oct 30, 2014 2:54 PM (in response to dave_doeppel)You mean I should open the file that is in C>username>pictures>lightroom rather than the my file of photos that I took from the PC and put on the desktop? (I'm scared I'll mess something up - even more)

7. Re: Why are my edits and tags not showing up in migrated LR4?
dave_doeppel Oct 30, 2014 3:01 PM (in response to VeronikaCofAZ)You have to open the .lrcat file that you copied form the PC. If you use the default then it would have been named "Lightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat"
The default location on the PC would have been in C>username>pictures>lightroom
That is the file that holds your edits. That file needs to be copied to your Mac. Where ever you copied that file to.
On the Mac the default location is almost the same as the PC - Macintosh HD ▸ Users ▸ username ▸ Pictures
If you opened Lightroom after installing then it would have created a new empty "Lightroom 4 Catalog.lrcat"
You need to copy your old file over this new one. Now when you open it it will have your edits BUT, the links to the files will be incorrect. They will still show C>username>pictures>
You need to let Lightroom find the missing files. Rt Click on the top level folder listed under the Folders Panel and select Locate Missing.... navigate to the top level folder where you copied your pictures. It will then update it's location and you should be back in business

8. Re: Why are my edits and tags not showing up in migrated LR4?
VeronikaCofAZ Oct 30, 2014 3:36 PM (in response to dave_doeppel)Ok, it's linking the missing files. I have my fingers crossed. Assuming it will take a little while for 31,000 photos. I'll let you know how it goes.
