George Johnson Oct 31, 2014 11:30 AM (in response to bookie56)In the button field properties dialog, select the Options tab and then the Behavior dropdown. You can set it to Push, Outline, or Invert.

bookie56 Nov 1, 2014 3:26 AM (in response to bookie56)Hi George!
Yes, I know and it is set to push....have discovered what it could be....
I am not using my own artwork and created pdf files for each setting up, down, and hover - but in these Graphics there are some complicated masks etc....
If I remove the masks then the button works Ok....
Going to make my own button and try that instead...
The strange thing is...even if I create png's of the different states...it still drags to the right and down a bit...just like the setting is indented?
It would seem that some functions in the graphics from illustrator are not handled right by Adobe Acrobat XI?

bookie56 Nov 4, 2014 2:22 AM (in response to bookie56)Hi again!
Well, still banging my head against a brick wall with this problem. I can't be the only one to try and add their own graphics to a pdf?
There must be some logical explanation for it?
If someone can tell me how I can add a pdf - then surely someone will recognise the problem and give me an idea how to fix it...
Thanks

George Johnson Nov 4, 2014 10:41 AM (in response to bookie56)I'm not sure I understand what the problem is. I'd be happy to take a look at a sample if you want to email it to me: acroscript at gmail dot com
It would be helpful if it included one button that demonstrates the problem and one that works OK.

bookie56 Nov 4, 2014 10:59 AM (in response to George Johnson)Hi George!
OK! will do! I have created all sorts of buttons now and they all pull down and to the right?!
The latest one is two shapes - one on top of the other. The background is just a Little larger than the top layer..
The image that works has come from the course lynda.com.
Button1 works and button two doesn't

George Johnson Nov 4, 2014 11:44 AM (in response to bookie56)Was that first button created with InDesign? Is suspect it was, and InDesign is able to set custom appearances in ways that aren't possible in Acrobat. If not InDesign, can you tell us what lynda.com course so I can take a look at the original?

bookie56 Nov 4, 2014 2:34 PM (in response to bookie56)Hi George!
Acrobat XI Creating Forms with Claudia McCue she uses Word, InDesign, and Illustrator. I can look at creating the document in InDesign - but it then has to be converted to PDF.
Not sure if you actually get to see her creating these buttons...
I copied the button that works from the PDF already created for the course...
She supplies some quite nice buttons created in Photoshop and saved as PDF's - but if I add them to my form the same problem occurs...
That's why I thought it would be OK to create artwork in Illustrator and then add it to my PDF.
I haven't looked at the whole course because I am more used to Illustrator...
I will have another look at the parts of the course pertaining to InDesign and Illustrator.
I created my form in word and then converted it to PDF to add the form fields etc...

8. Re: A perculiar reaction to pressing av reset/commit button
George Johnson Nov 4, 2014 3:59 PM (in response to bookie56)I'm fairly certain that first button was generated by InDesign. So if you want them to behave the same way, or want more control over the various appearance states, you'll need to use InDesign to create the fields and export to interactive PDF. You can just create the buttons and in Acrobat copy & paste them into your form.
